Westlake Education Foundation Membership

Westlake Education Foundation promotes initiative and strong leadership by providing financial support, not otherwise available, to teachers for creative projects. Qualifying projects prepare the greatest number of students at all grade levels to achieve their maximum potential. Awards granted in previous years include:

• Dog Tags For Kids (Dover Elementary)
• ESL Media Center Translations(K-12 Media Centers)
• GPS navigation and surveying equipment (Westlake High School)
• Virtual field trip equipment (Dover)
• Nutrition Explorers & Movin’ Minds (Holly Lane)
• GeoFitness mats and DVD’s for physical education (Hilliard)
• Music Technology Lab, including Sibelius notation software and 16 controller keyboards, for music composition and notation (Parkside)
• CSI Chemistry Investigations (Burneson)
• Solar Sprint car kits for math and science enrichment (Parkside)
• WHBS-TV integrated broadcast sound system (Westlake High School)
• Physical Education Climbing Wall (Hilliard Elementary School)

Mini-grants, begun in 2006, have also been awarded to students to help defray the cost of participating in summer programs, events, or activities that enriched the academic experience. More than thirty awards totaling over $8500 were granted to students since the start of this program.
